Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what information Halò collects, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
All financial data you enter into Halò — including accounts, transactions, expenses, investments, liabilities, and bills — is stored locally on your device only using Apple’s SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to YLabs or any third-party server.
Halò does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. Specifically:
Halò supports Apple Siri and the Shortcuts app through the Quick Log feature, which lets you log expenses without opening the app. When you use this feature:

Halò can automatically log expenses when you pay with Apple Pay. This works through an automation that you create yourself in the iOS Shortcuts app — Halò has no direct access to Apple Wallet, Apple Pay, or your payment cards. When the automation runs after a payment, iOS passes Halò only:
This information is used solely to create the expense entry on your device. The link between a card’s display name and the account you choose in Halò, along with learned merchant categories, is stored in your device’s shared app storage (App Group) and never transmitted to YLabs or any server.
You are always in control: delete the automation in the Shortcuts app to stop automatic logging entirely, or remove individual card links in Settings → Apple Pay inside Halò.
When you choose to attach a receipt photo to an expense, the image is processed on-device to automatically fill in expense details. Receipt photos are stored locally on your device only and are never transmitted to YLabs or any third-party server. Halò accesses your photo library only when you explicitly choose to attach a photo.
Halò fetches publicly available market data from Yahoo Finance to display live stock prices and currency exchange rates. These requests do not include any personal information or identifiable data — only the ticker symbols or currency codes needed to retrieve market prices.

If you add the Halò home screen widget, a small snapshot of your net worth and today’s change is written to your device’s shared app storage (App Group). This data stays on your device and is only used to display your widget. It is never transmitted externally.
Halò keeps a small technical log on your device to help diagnose problems — for example, whether a backup completed or an automation ran. This log records app events only: it does not contain transaction amounts, merchant names, balances, or any financial figures. It stays on your device, is limited to recent activity, and is shared with us only if you personally choose to send it (for example, when reporting an issue by email). You can review its contents in the app before sending.
Because all data is stored locally, your information is protected by your device’s built-in security — including Face ID, Touch ID, and device encryption. We recommend keeping your device passcode enabled.
Halò is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
